What to know

Wagering requirements describe how much eligible betting an offer requires before bonus-related winnings can be withdrawn. Check whether the multiplier applies to the bonus alone or the deposit and bonus together.

Read the eligible games, contribution percentages, maximum stake, time limit, withdrawal restrictions and maximum cashout. Meeting a wagering requirement is not a guarantee of profit. You can choose not to accept a bonus.

How the calculation works

A wagering requirement is the total amount you must stake before bonus money, or winnings from free spins, can be withdrawn as cash. If a 20 bonus carries 10x wagering on the bonus amount, you need to place 200 of bets. If the requirement applies to the deposit plus the bonus, the same 10x on a 20 deposit and 20 bonus means 400 of bets.

Always read which amount the multiple applies to, because this changes the total more than the headline number. Our wagering calculator uses a bonus amount and multiplier; check whether the operator uses a different basis.

Read the stated conditions

Check the stated wagering multiplier and whether it applies to bonus funds alone or deposit plus bonus. Eligible games, maximum bets, expiry and withdrawal caps also matter. Read the full terms before deciding.

A lower multiple makes an offer easier to understand, but it does not make it free. Ten times a bonus is still a meaningful amount of play, and every bet carries the same risk of loss as a bet made with your own money.

Game contributions and other conditions

Not every game counts fully towards wagering. Terms often say slots contribute 100%, while table games or live casino contribute a smaller percentage or nothing. If blackjack contributes 10%, a 10 hand counts as only 1 towards the requirement. Some games may be excluded altogether, and playing them can void the bonus.

Look for a maximum stake while a bonus is active, a time limit for completing the wagering, and any cap on how much can be withdrawn from bonus winnings. Check whether your real-money balance is used first and whether withdrawing early cancels the bonus. All of these are significant terms and should be displayed clearly before you accept.

Deciding whether an offer suits you

Ask whether you would play the eligible games at those stakes anyway. If the requirement would push you to gamble more, for longer, or on games you would not normally choose, declining is a sensible option. You are never obliged to take a bonus, and many players prefer to keep their balance as withdrawable cash with no conditions attached.

Never chase a wagering requirement to “unlock” winnings. Treat any bonus spend as part of the budget you set before you started, not as extra money on top.

Common questions

Do wagering requirements apply to free spins winnings? Often, yes. Winnings from free spins may be credited as bonus funds with their own wagering requirement. Some offers pay spin winnings as cash with no wagering, so check the terms of the specific offer.

Can I withdraw my own deposit before finishing wagering? Depending on the terms, you may be able to withdraw your real-money balance, but doing so can cancel the bonus and any bonus winnings. The terms must explain which balance is used first.

Is a no-wagering bonus always better? It is simpler, because winnings are paid as cash. It can still have limits, such as a small number of spins, a fixed game or an expiry date. Compare the full terms rather than the label.
